American research tha found the association between sitting time and mortality was in CELAFISCS.

Scientist Peter Katzmarzyk Pennington Biomedical Research Center from State of Louisiana in the United States, responsible for the discovery of the association risk between sitting time and mortality was the 16th to 18th January at the Center for the Study of Physical Fitness Laboratory of São Caetano do Sul - CELAFISCS, along with more than 10 (ten) other foreign scientists for a training team of researchers from CELAFISCS for the development of an international cooperation project called ISCOLE (International Study of Childhood Obesity, Lifestyle and the Environment).

This project will be developed in 12 different countries across five continents and CELAFISCS coordinated by Dr. Victor Matsudo was the institution selected to represent South America The study aims to draw a picture of childhood obesity in the world, as well as the style life and influence of school environment in children's behavior.

The study will be a first step for two years and could be replicated for more than two years and will be held in Sao Caetano do Sul by the group CELAFISCS.
