Dr. Sandra Matsudo receives Award Talent Programs with Exemplary Maturity - Longitudinal Aging Project in Sao Caetano do Sul - Senior Fit
The Center of Studies of Physical Fitness Laboratory from São Caetano do Sul (CELAFISCS) is a nongovernmental organization that has the mission to investigate and disseminate knowledge of the relationship between physical activity and health. He has worked in the recovery, maintenance, promotion and excellence in healthcare. This project aims to empower the theoretical and practical health professionals, staff and caregivers of the elderly long-stay institutions in the municipality to implement a program of physical activities in these shelters to minimize losses in functional capacity and improve the quality of life for seniors met. The project will benefit approximately 500 elderly, working initially in five partner institutions with the Department of Social Services of the Municipality of Sao Caetano do Sul may be extended to 10 other private institutions in the municipality. This project is an innovative proposal, because it enables the implementation of a physical activity program easy to be applied to long-term institutions, which mostly does not have such programs because of the difficulty of financial resources, but a great benefit in promoting quality of life for seniors.
